Does anyone know anyting about this DVD?? I think it was released in 2002...
There are a few copies on Ebay...
Also... If you are a JCL fan.. you *must* pick up the new Leyendecker book!
It's only been 34 years since the last book was released on him... by Michael Schau and now is hard to find and can be expensive.... abebooks.com has numerous copies.. it will run you around $120 to $200.....

Anyone get a chance to see Leyendecker work in person? I saw a number of nice pieces at the Dahesh Museum in Manhattan a couple of years back...

My friends and I are lucky enough to live an hour or so from the Haggin Museum so we've gone and checked out the Leyendeckers a few times.
Unfortunately, they're on that tour now...so I'll have to wait for them to get back.
As for the DVD...well....it kind of sucks.
The art is great...what you see of it.
The camera work and editing is terrible. At times it seems like they're trying to induce epileptic seizures.
Instead of just showing the art, they tried too hard to get cute and tricky...and it failed.
It might be worth it for a couple bucks...but not something to go out of your way for.

To make sure I was giving you the straight poop, another concept artist and I watched the DVD here at work yesterday.
I had to fight hard to keep my friend from turning the thing off...but after a while there were some interviews with other illustrators that provided a little extra insight into Leyendecker.
And every now and then you'd get a decent look at some cool artwork.
So...it's a bit of a chore to get through, but I can't say there's nothing of value here.

Thanks so much for the advice and observations.... Maybe I'll just stick with the two books for now...

...and if I can find it, a friend of mine shot some good photos of the stuff from the Haggin museum and burned it on a disc for me.....but I seem to have misplaced it at the moment...
