Includes business development, marketing, and management, and also works about specific industries (for example, Automobile, Energy, Manufacturing, etc.).

I think we could use as a starting point the North American Industrial Classification System as developed most recently in the late 1990's by the U.S. and Canada. The website we can point to is: http://www.osha.gov/pls/imis/sic_manual.html

These are the categories (using their letters):

A. Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing
B. Mining
C. Construction
D. Manufacturing
E. Transportation and Public Utilities (my term -- the latter includes electric, gas & sanitary services). My degree is in this field
F. Wholesale
G. Retail Trade
H. Finances, Insurance Real Estate
I. Services
J. Public Administration

I think we might still have Agriculture as a top-level category, and perhaps it belongs here. There are altogether 99 categories (see link above). Public Administration might go under Government and Politics.

Are you thinking that how to work in each of these businesses should go here? Like how to grow crops or how to mine? I think what is meant by Business here is how to run a business not how to work in a business. So if Agriculture were not to be a top-level category, I think it would fit better under either technology or biology. How to mine would fit somewhere under Technology.

So I think the categories in the section should be more along the lines of what you might find in a business school, maybe Accounting, Managing people, Advertising, etc.

Yes, I was thinking something like this:

#4

Certainly a more complete list, but very sizable. And it does represent more of what book people do rather than what people do who collect statistics on business.
