I noticed yesterday that I was getting notifications from Russian people that I don't know. When I google myself my entire Facebook profile is out there in Russian. In a panic I have deactivated my account and I can't find any help from Facebook. Should I be worried? or try something else? It was out there in Spanish too, but since I deactivated myself they are no longer there.

Huh, that's interesting. I may need to do something about that. I mean, my account is supposed to be private, only accessible to friends that I accept.

I thought mine was private too. From what I've been able to research if you or any of your friends ever use any of the cutsey applications you are left wide open to being high-jacked. Still no response from facebook by the way. It does seem they would want to be more pro-active in preventing this sort of thing.

I created a new profile sans most of the personal info. Everybody who knows me knows that stuff anyway. I threatened all my friends to not fling sheep, send applications about who was I in a past life, or which movie star I should be. So far, no funny business.

Well duh, it seems that no matter how tightly you've set your security there's another little screen where you have to opt out of having your profile available to all the search engines. It seems that making all your info available to any and all should be something you have to opt into. Thus my profile being blasted around the world in many languages. They must be making money off of this and I blame myself for not being more wary but I still feel ill-used by FB.

Every time I get comfortable there's something new. Here's a link to the latest phishing attack. http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSTRE54D6BN20090514

Another ap to be cautious of and perhaps a sign of privacy legislation to come.
