Exploration accounts in translation

Looking at the tags at LT, I see that there are only a few people who collect the wonderful books The Hakluyt Society publishes. For a relatively cheap $80/year (or 40 pounds/year UK and elsewhere) you get several wonderfully-bound and dust-jacketed copies of original travel journals per year from the initial voyages of people like Sir Walter Raleigh and Frobisher. I bought two of the Hakluyt books (used) last year. (They appear to be unshared.) I see a few more that I'd love to read.

I would love to know more. Still debating whether to join. I think membership has gone up to £60 a year. How do the POD and original compare?

I love that series. They have a number of good ancient ones, like the Periplus of the Erythraean sea. As I recall, the Boston Athenaeum has the full run all together.

No. I've never subscribed to any book series. Not my style, or something.

Richard Burton was a fan of the Hakluyt Society books...

Interestingly, my thoughts today came upon the Hakluyt Society today. Reviving an old thread here. Anyone, feel the same or have opinions changed?
