Stir-Fry question

I just finished Stir-Fry by Emma Donoghue and don't get the ending. Is Maria supposed to be attracted to Ruth?

Near the end, after Maria says she's going to find Ruth at her parents, Jael says, "...God. I hadn't even thought of that." And then, "That makes sense of a lot of things."

What are they talking about?

I had to read it twice before I got it... At least I think I get it :-)

"I have to find Ruth."
"To tell her all this? You should know, she won't be coming back anyway."
"No, not to tell her. Just to find her."

"Just to find her.": Maria is in love with Ruth, and if I'm not mistaken it's implied that it's reciprocated.

Yeah, StirFry was a weird one for me... I thought the ending was abrupt, too.
