Could it be possible to make it so the code read in could be used in the search box too? Right now when we scan the bar code into the search box it doesn't come up with anything. I assume this is because the search box is not translating the Cuecat code.

Possibly (I don't have a clawed cat to test). It's also true I think that you can only search for ISBNs in your own library and that LY mostly has ISBN-10s recorded whilst the CueCat will output an ISBN-13.

By search box you don't mean adding a book, but searching for a book already in your library or in the system generally?

Having the search box in the search.php page be able to find a book based on an ISBN-13 returned from a (declawed) CueCat would be handy.

> 14 : It would, and Tim is aware of that. However, at the moment LT keeps ISBNs in ISBN-10 format and there is no code in the search to recognise and swap to ISBN-13. And there's the additional complication that for consistency it should support a clawed CueCat which is what LT sells to people.

Oh, and there are much more fundamental flaws in search than this.

Sorry for my delay in answering your question, tim. Yes, I mean being able to run a bar code on a book in my library and being able to pull up the book through the search engine. It doesn't currently do that. Well cue cat seems to be brokjen all the way around given that I can no longer add books using it.

Is there a plan to add the code to the library search field to recognize and swap ISBM-10 to ISBM-13? Can the same code used in add books search field be re-used here? When I purchased my scanner I had already entered my library. I intended to use it to edit my books' tags and comments..

Searching via a scanned ISBN works on the http://www.librarything.com/search page if you scan the ISBN into the site search WORKS field, provided you remove the +5 field at the end if that exists. It would be nice if that +5 field were ignored like it is in the add new books search field.
