Jeffrey Essmann's Life on the List: Assorted Sordid Tales and Unsavory Revelations is a great new gay memoir. Has anyone else enjoyed it? If you've ever lamented the near-total dearth of intelligent, funny porn, you'll find this an amazing read, as I did. The author relates his experiences with Craig's List online sex hook-ups.

There are quite a few readers of gay fiction who come from the fanfic sphere. It's been very helpful for me when finding this type of reading material.

I dunno. I've noticed quite a few people in various threads mentioning their partners. Most of them seem to do it rather offhandedly, though. I think that for the most part their interaction on-site is centered around the fact that they're readers rather than their sexuality.

When reviewing the number of people who share the same books that appear in my library, the numbers are small, in comparison to the overall size of LT. It was just an observation.

K.J. - We share one book, which is a gay themed novel. Since you have a very small library, this may be part of the reason.
If you look at a library like slash, or top50MM or a number of other libraries (like elise.rolle, Zehavit_Lamasu, jshillingford) many of them very prolific reviewers, they have a lot of gay fiction.

Even looking at some of the very large LGBT libraries here (Quatrefoil_library and UCLA_LGBT) the books they share with your library is not that large (31 and 13, respectively). There are far better ways of judging the overall makeup of LT than by looking at the overlap with a single, small library.

The fact that Quatrefoil_Library shares 31 volumes with my 'small library' is not insignificant, since that amount is more than 22% of my posted books, to date. Of course, when I upload the bulk of my German and French volumes I do expect that percentage to change dramatically.
However, my original observation was in reference to readers and writers of gay literature, and not public libraries. It was an effort to find some direction for contact with others who write for this genre, and to find forums for discussion of same. So far, the only forums I have found of this ilk are not current, nor do they have a depth of participation. Take the one in which we are having this discussion, for example.
As for 'judging the overall makeup of LT,' that was never my intent nor was it the foundation of my comment, and perhaps by offering constructive ideas and guidance you might bring more value to the situation for myself, and future readers of this forum. Or, you can tell me once again that I have a 'small library.' I do like things in threes.
