My recommendation for the best book I have read to date about Virginia's mind is Julia Briggs' Virginia Woolf: An Inner Life. I read it cover to cover, but it is laid out book by book, and so now I shall re-read the sections relating to the books of VWs I read.

Virginia Woolf's Women by Vanessa Curtis is quite interesting and I found Carrington: A Life by Gretchen Holbrook Gerzina to be quite hypnotic and captivating. The former takes you through the relationships of Virginia Woolf with her sister, Vanessa Bell; artist Dora Carrington; writer Katherine Mansfield; novelist Vita Sackville-West and the ever ambiguous composer Ethel Smith. The latter is basically the story of Carrington's work, her art and the loves and lovers in her life. This one in particular is a wonderful book.
