Any West Indies Cricket fans here on LT? How do you think this series is going to go? Who are going to be the standouts?

Australia has already lost a wicket!

Well it looks like we had a disastrous (?spelling?) start with Watson going out for a duck, but we seem to have picked up pretty well from there, Katich falling just 8 short of a ton! Lets hope Clarke can perform well as captain, I kinda feel sorry for him, our last few captains have all been pretty well loved & poor pup doesnt seem to be!

Whoo! 8 (dec) / 480.

No WI fans on LT? Or all hiding?

I know you just want me to declare that as they're playing Australia I'll support WI - well I'm fine with that.

I don't quite get why they declared 8 down. Was it just so Hauritz could get a maiden 50. I think you'll be kicking yourselves if WI scrape to 281.

Baz, if you don't have a real team to support, you might as well be the WI fan here!

480 will be enough. I don't understand your Hauritz comment, do you think Ricky should have declared earlier?

400 for 7 at tea would have been OK but a bit early or maybe 444 for 8 when North went down but then why 480 for 8 and give Windies 39 overs? Maybe wait a bit longer get to 500 and just give them 20 overs (at which point incidentally they were 76 for 4) and then have fresher bowlers in the morning. As it is they've staged a mini-recovery of sorts.

The only reason for declaring then is that Hauritz has never got a test 50 (as far as I know) but the one thing I usually admire Australia for is taking a hard line on this stuff and being determined to win as a team and so asking themselves when should we as a team to declare rather than saying "isn't it nice for Nathan to get a 50".

It seems rather disrespectful of an admittedly poor WI side to start taking this attitude now. Still I'm only reading the commentary on the web when I get in to work so perhaps in the flesh it comes over differently.

Just realised what a dill I am for thinkin Clarke is captaining the test side :S Guess I got confused from watching the all stars T20 the other night & they were talking about Clarke being the new captain, but of course Ricky's still our test captain - dir Seanie!

As for the declaration, IMHO any declaration under 500 is kinda silly & just asking to be embarrassed, but I dont think we've got too much to worry about with this game...
