Has anyone else read this one yet? I read it earlier this week, and wow its a wonderful book, but almost unbearably poignant I thought - in fact I found I had to put it down and walk away from it a few times. I loved it though!

Yes. It made me cry. Actually it was the first Persephone book I got. Have you read any of her others?

Yes I have read The Village which I have in old 1950's hardback I bought in a second hand shop in Hay - I loved that one too.

I can recommend The Victorian Chaise-Lounge (although I'm not sure I can spell it...)

I really loved The Victorian Chaise-Longue too. I have both The Village and Little Boy Lost in my TBR pile, but haven't got to them yet.

I picked up Little Boy Lost at the Persephone Tea, and have just read it. Completely heart-rending.

I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to Victorian Chaise-Longue. I did spend much of the book wanting to slap some sense into the protagonist, though!

This is my most favourite Persephone and one my favourite books ever. Actually the first time I read it was not in Persephone but an penguin copy which is now falling apart at the seams so I've got a nice Persephone copy to make up for it. It's an amazing novel and I also like her other ones The Village and the Victorian Chaise-Longue (that's kind of creepy but excellent all the same).
