I haven't purchased anything from them, but I did check out an Octavo CD-ROM of the Kelmscott Chaucer from the public library several years ago. This was maybe ten years ago, so I'm sure their technology has improved but the image quality was good for what was around then. Their interface was a little creaky, though. Again, that may have improved in the past decade.

They do look interesting but I've never had a chance to look at one in person. I'm currently tempted by their release of Johnson's Dictionary:

unfortunately I'm probably not going to come across it in Sydney so will probably need to bite the bullet and order it from the US.

I read the thread title, and started imagining the packaging for an 8-CD set, folded over and over.

I'm currently in the process of deleting the old CD-ROM only compatible with Win95, Win98 and PowerPCs.
But I was pleased to find that the old Octavo CD-ROMs that I have can be read on an OS X El Capitan Macintosh (version 10.11.6):
• Kelmscott Chaucer (1896, illustrated by William Morris).
• Horae Beatum Maria ad usum Romanun (France, 1524) and
• Icones Historiarum Veteris Testament (1547, illustrated By Hans Holbein).
None of the CD-ROM will open automatically but the user just has to double-click the main PDF to access the book and its presentation. Moreover, the user can also found, in a sub-folder, other PDFs showing the book scanned at higher resolutions.
