Problem solved. Never mind.

Care to share the problem and solution?

The problem was that my HP scanner/printer combo wouldn't scan. I kept getting a message that the scanner couldn't be found even though the printer worked just find. This happened all the time and I kept reloading software to correct the problem and often that still didn't work. Couldn't get the answer I needed from Apple or my Imac for Dummies. Finally did an internet search and discovered that the power for both the printer andd the computer have to be completely off at the same time for it to reconnect. Turning the computer off, but leaving the printer on, screws it up somehow.

Almost six months have passed since you found the solution to your problem. I'm so glad I found your post because I've had the same problem and just gave up. Thanks varielle.
