Me too!!!
4B00KAH0LIC
The wait is driving me crazy! I've got a countdown as well.
5FantasyGirl2
I tried to put the countdown clock here but in vain.
119 days to go.
Can you, by any chance, upload pictures in here? If yes, then how?

Ha! I put a picture up on the group homepage.
7Raevyn87
I am so excited for the book. I am going crazy waiting for it, so in the meantime I just have to re-read HG and CF.
8deslivres5
Mockingjay is definitely my "most looking forward to"
book of this year. My public library system allows patrons to place holds on books that are in "On Order" status in its catalog system. I check just about every day to see if Mockingjay has been placed on order. No such luck yet, but one day soon I'm going to be so pleasantly surprised...

Funny how it's on Aug 4th. That's a couple of days after my birthday, so I like to imagine that Mockingjay is Collins's late birthday gift to me.

Ok. Question for all of you:
Let's pretend that Katnissand Peeta and everyone are still in the 'Game'. Who would you rather have win?
You must remember though, all the others will die...

21FantasyGirl2
No,sadly, this is going to be the last book apparantly. Lets hope Suzanne Collins changes her mind though, and continues the series.
22Puppydogluver
Yeah well i think it makes sense 4 it to be the final 1 tho. I am still sad tho.
24FantasyGirl2
I Know! I wish that she would make it at least a 5-book series, like her previous series.
And yet, if it were a longer series, we would have to wait for the fourth book...then the next book..
Although it would be worth it.

But imagine if I met someone and asked them " Are you Babbe2?"or "Are you bananak?" and they wern't? How awkward.
How will I know if it is you two?

I can imagine your hair. I seems pretty. Is it natural or died?
I have natural long straight black hair that goes down past my waist, but you can't tell me by it becaue I wear a head scarf. Yes, I'm a muslim.
I wear long-distance glasses almost all the time.
I'm going to turn 14, but I look like i'm 16, everyone says. Something about the look in my face.
Brown/black eyes.
Usually dress in the cultural dress of Pakistan (Kameez Shalwar) or in skirts.
Live in Nothern NJ.
Oh, and I refuse to wear makeup. Any bit of it.
Now if we ever meet, you might be able to recognise me. I don't know why I told you about my hair, since it will be of no use to you, but still.
How about you other 2? Babbe2 and Puppydoglover?

Waiting for Catching Fire...
122FantasyGirl2
Why for catching fire? It came out ages ago!
Or do you mean you're waiting for it to be delivered or something? On hold in the library?
Or do you mean you're waiting for it to be delivered or something? On hold in the library?
123BookLover287
(Yeah, I got it for my birthday)
Anyways, I think that Mockingjay WON'T be about Katniss. It will be about the two District 12 tributes in the qaurter quell! Maybe the "special thing" in the qaurter quell will be that the coaches(Katniss and Peeta) have to particpate in The Hunger Games AGAIN.

Wait, now I'm confused.
Have you read catching fire?

125BookLover287
(Not really...oh wait, qaurter quell is in CF, right? Sorry, I just got bored of it. It had NOTHING to do with the games)
126FantasyGirl2
yes...
127deslivres5
My public library system ordered 120 copies of Mockingjay hooray! They are well prepared for the popularity of this final part of the series. With diligent checking of the catalog, I was able to place a hold on it this week and I'm number 60 in the queue. Hopefully this translates to picking up my library copy on the release date or very close to it.
128FantasyGirl2
120 copies!!
My library got only 2.
But still, that's quite nice, considering their budget has just been cut down, by that despicable Chris Christie the governor. Horrid man.
My library only gets 2 or more copies if a lot of people request it, simply cause they're low on funds, as I said before.
But guess what??!! On Aug 25, HG fans can get together to celebrate the release of the 3rd book. That's really rare, and only happens for books that a LOT of ppl like.
Only prob is that is in Ramadan, the month of fasting, and its in the evening, when I'm supposed to be at home, preparing for the breaking of my fast :(
Hope something works out for me.

Sorry if 120 copies in my public library system seems a bit excessive:-) But it is a county-wide system with 20 libraries in our county. It is nice for sharing books between the libraries in the county.
Sorry about the budget cuts: our libraries are affected by state budget cuts here as well, in other ways (staff, hours, programs).
Nice about the HG program at your library in
honor of the launch!
Sorry they couldn't have planned it for non-evening hours. Maybe a bookstore will have something earlier in the day. I don't think our library has anything planned as of now.

Oh I get it. You were talking about the whole county.
The same goes here. Our county together has 25 copies. We all "share", cause it inter-related. The other libraries who don't have copies as yet will prob get them later.
Nah, 120 copies doesn't seem excessive if it is for the whole county. The more, the merrier!
Hope they do something where u live too.

"'Hunger Games' Movie Moves Forward And We Get A 'Mockingjay' Sneak Peek
Posted 5/28/10 11:00 am ET by Sabrina Rojas Weiss in Movie News, Page Turners
I was among the crowd of grown-up, professional but unabashed fans of the young-adult novel "The Hunger Games" gathered for cocktails at Scholastic headquarters on Wednesday night. And as excited as I was to meet author Suzanne Collins and congratulate her on being named one of Time's 100 Most Influential People, I'd sort of gotten my hopes up that an advance copy of the third book, "Mockingjay," would be slipped into my gift bag too. Ha. Scholastic publishes "Harry Potter" — they're like the Capital with their secrets. I may just have to wait until August 24 like the rest of you.
But, I got the next best thing. After being mobbed by enthusiastic fans, booksellers and bloggers, Collins made her way to a stool in the center of the room. She pulled out a copy of the second book in the trilogy, "Catching Fire," and read the last few, heartbreaking pages that conclude Katniss' second thrilling escape from the Hunger Games arena. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it yet (why not, already???), but it was a very moving moment: In a pleasing Southern twang, Collins added just the perfect amount of despair and defiance to convey the thoughts of a 17-year-old girl who's had the fate of her whole country resting on her shoulders and truly believes that she's let them all down.
It seemed at first that we'd be left with that same tease, right where we've been hanging since the book came out last year. But wait! Collins smiled slyly as she pulled out a handful of galley pages and, yes, read the opening passage of "Mockingjay." Even though the scene was even sadder than the conclusion of "Catching Fire," and I fought back tears as she read, I was also fighting back the urge to jump up and down with excitement at getting that tiny sneak peek. (SPOILER: It begins with Katniss looking at the ashes of her home in District 12.)
I got another special treat that I can actually share with the rest of you: I spoke to two producers from Lionsgate who are making the "Hunger Games" movie. They said Suzanne had given them her draft of the script, which is now being revised by another screenwriter. They hope to be able to announce a director this summer, and go into production in January to release the film later in 2011. Can't. Freaking. Wait."
I totally agree. I can't freaking wait.

Yay to the story. Good job "Katniss" for choosing "Gale"
I hope in the real Mockingjay story she actually choses Gale.

we are just a tag team! haha.
I hope so too!
I hope so too!
138FantasyGirl2
So, there are (at the moment) 3 for Gale, and 1 for Peeta Among the ones who actually regularly post anyway.
139Mariah7
Am I the only one for Peeta!
And remember I said that I would pick Peeta for Myself. Not sure which one I would pick for Katniss...its sad either way.

140HannaMeads
I like both. I can't make myself choose. I like Peeta because he is sweet and genuine. But I like gale because he is an exact fit for Katniss. Gale would be the natural path for Katniss to take if the whole "Hunger Games" hadn't happened. So I remain undecided.
141FantasyGirl2
139> oops, that slipped my mind

151HannaMeads
Or all the districts become free from the capitol and Katniss and Gale get to be together as rulers. hahahahaha. justtt kiddin.
152FantasyGirl2
151>That actually would not be bad......
cause they know how horrible life is....the way the capitol ran it.

Gale and Katniss... ahhh they would be so good together... dang bomb..
154FantasyGirl2
Gale and Katniss.
In the first book, I would have agreed with you. And in the second. But in the third? No. Gale changed. He wasn't the Gale I knew and fell in love with, he certainly wasn't the one for Katniss anymore. I can't say I blame him- war changes people. But.... *sad sigh*
