East Line Books: A Community Gathering Place

In 2008, Robyn Ringler opened East Line Books at 1714 Route 9 in the Old Village Plaza in Clifton Park to create a gathering place where people in the community could share their love of literature and writing.

East Line Books offers a wonderfully diverse selection of more than 10,000 new, used, and out of print books at affordable prices. Genres include literary and popular fiction, suspense, U.S. and world history, politics, journalism, social issues, science, philosophy, contemporary and vintage mystery, classics, religion, poetry, biography and memoir, cookbooks, how to write and publish, travel, sports, pets, science fiction and fantasy, parenting, education, drama, art and photography, inspiration, and others. East Line Books also stocks an extensive collection of books for children and young adults.

If you love mass market paperbacks, our back room is filled with them--for only $2 each! While you are searching for the perfect paperback, stop and pour yourself a free cup of hot coffee or tea or, in the summertime, a refreshing glass of iced tea or cold lemonade. At East Line Books, we want you to feel at home.

Our children's room is stacked with picture books, early readers, Dr. Seuss and popular series books like Goosebumps and Magic Tree House, chapter books, American Girl books, nonfiction (history, geography, science, math, languages, physics, writing, etc.), and we have an entire wall of young adult books, including Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series.

Our cozy, comfortable bookshop is the perfect place to drop in, browse for a treasure, lounge in an easy chair with a free cup of coffee or tea and read a book or sit in our cozy classroom to write or search the net on your laptop through our WIFI.

Conversation happens naturally at East Line Books so if you suddenly find yourself talking about your favorite authors or what you did or didn't like about the last book you read, don't be surprised. Booklovers thrive here.
So do writers. To encourage community members to share their love of books and the craft of writing, East Line Books sponsors events like author signings, speakers, book clubs, workshops, and even comedy shows by the local Improv Club and open mic nights for local writing groups like the Mavens of Mayhem and WomanWords.

East Line Books hosts a monthly book club and writing classes for children, teens and adults. During the school year, we sponsor creative writing classes for homeschoolers, a poetry circle for adults, and a six-week personal essay/memoir class that has been a highlight. Local writers, particularly beginners, are learning not only to find their writing voices, but also, how to get their work published. East Line Books also offers workshops for advanced writers seeking to hone their craft. Check the community calendar at East Line Books or our website for an updated listing of classes, book club information and events.
