- Books 'N Friends is a non-profit used bookstore owned by Friends of the Library of Alleghany County and staffed by 18 energetic volunteers. The store opened on Main St. in Sparta, NC in 2003 and is a highly successful business with all the profits going to benefit our local library. Our inventory of well over 10,000 books of all kinds has been donated by the public and our loyal customers.
