Beschreibung:: The library branch offers lending, readers' advisory, public access computers and other library services. Children's lending and reference collection on the ground floor. Adult and teen lending collections on the 2nd floor. Also Chinese materials.

Current full service library branch opened in 1995, replacing Boys and Girls House, the building is named after Lillian Helena Smith, the first children's librarian in the British Empire.

The LHS building also contains two major research and reference collections - the Merril Collection of Science Fiction Speculation and Fantasy (see separate entry) and the Osborne Collection of Early Children's Books ion the 4th floor. The Osborne has over 80,000 rare and notable modern children's books. Also has moveable books, literary archives, games and ephemera.
