I've definitely gushed about Dan Santat's illustrations before so I don't need to go into detail except to say that they're still lovely. This story is about a girl in Japan whose science fair project, a giant killer robot, busts through the wall of her school and started rampaging through the town. "I probably shouldn't have given it a superclaw, or a laser eye, or the power to control dogs' minds." Amazing. This is a good example of a science fiction book because the robot is an important element in the story. A girl invented a robot, but the robot ran away and destroyed everything in the city. The girl solved this problem by inventing another robot which is bigger than this one and defeated this robot. The plot is interesting and the illustration is vivid. The book is suitable for students from second to third grade. Teachers can use the book to introduce the concept of robots. The media is the oil painting. One girl just wanted the opportunity to win the science fair, but she didn't think the her project would go on a rampage throughout the entire city. She created a robot, but never thought to program the robot in case it would turn against her. She tries so many different things to stop the robot, but nothing seems to work. Finally, she builds another type of robot to stop her original robot. The new robot is victorious in it's mission, and she wins the science fair. I was a bit disappointed in this book. It was told in a comic book form, which I'm sure kids would like reading, but I don't think this would be a good book for a read aloud. The illustrations were fun to look at, and complemented the story well. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
