Noelle the bulldog comes to a new home. There she thinks that she cannot do anything right. She feels all alone and depressed because she looks funny. The next day, however, she is given several opportunities to help the other animals out. By the end of the day she realizes that just because she looks funny does not make her all that different. She has talents that make her special.

I loved the illustrations in this book. They are very colorful and bright with fine details. The expressions that Noelle has throughout the story helps reinforce the text. There is a good message to the story about finding your true talent from within. The fact that the story rhymed made it even more enjoyable to read.

This is a good book to read to students to help them relate to feeling left out or different. The teacher could have a discussion about Noelle in the story and let the students discuss or write what makes them feel left out and what they think are their talents. The teacher may also talk about how the story uses rhyming in the text. The students could write a poem or story about feelings using rhyme. ( )
