I like the Dyamonda Daniel book series by Nikki Grimes. This story almost zero is inspired to tech Dyamonde a lesson about the things she need versus the things she want. When her classmate Tameeka gets a new pair of high top sneakers she gives Dyamonde advice to tell her mother to buy her some. Because parents are suppose buy there children what they need and she needs new sneakers. When Dyamonde gets home from school she tells her mom to buy her new sneakers and her mother says she will think about it. But instead she takes all of her extra clothes and only leaves Dyamonde just what she needs. Dyamonde is very upset about what her mother did but soon understood when a classmate house burns down and she is left with nothing. Dyamonde decided she wanted to donate some of her clothes and have a clothes drive for others to donate also. This showed her she didn’t need all those things because she could be left with nothing and really need clothes one day. ( )

This book is about a little girl who thinks her mom needs to provide her with her wants. Her mom decides to teach her a lesson, but a situation occurs later on in the book. One of her classmate house burns down in a fire and Dyamonde decides to do a clothing drive to help her classmate out. Towards the end of the book, there are so word problem like equations that can help students relate equations to real life. I rate this 3 out of 5 because it shows friendship and money situations. Another story following a third grader named Dyamonde Daniel, Grimes centers this story around the act of giving. In this story, Dyamonde's mother took all her clothes away except for the clothes she needed. This was to teach Dyamonde a lesson that all the clothes she owns is not a necessity, and there are others out there who aren't as fortunate. One of Dyamonde's friends had a terrible house fire, and they lost everything they had. Because of this, Dyamonde decided to have a clothes drive for her friend and her family to collect clothes.
This story teaches children the lesson that you should be thankful for what you have, and that giving goes a long way. ( )

Dymonde Daniel is a girl who does nto realize everything she has. One day, a girl in her class tells her to demand new shoes from her mom. Dymonde makes a huge mistake and does it. Her mom takes away all of her clothes except for the basic necessities. A few days later, Dymonde leaarns that a girl in her school had her house burn down and has nothing. Dymonde realizes what she has and reaches out to help another person in need. This is a great story to share with students to discuss appreciation and giving back. ( )

Dyamonde wants red high top sneakers, no, she needs them. Her mother doesn't quite see it that way, as punishment for demanding that she needs new things, Dyamonde's clothes disappear - all but one outfit and a few pairs of underwear and a set of pajamas. Dyamonde couldn't be any more enraged and embarrassed until she hears of a fellow classmate, is in need of help. Inspired, she organizes a clothes drive, getting some of her clothes back in turn. This book teaches an amazing lesson that "Everything is a gift," and that we must treat it as such. ( )
