Lazy writing. Too many other books about Darwin out there to bother with this. The illustrations are not so bad. ( ) Charles Darwin was interested in nature from a little kid. He would go around collecting beetles, bugs, and other forms of insects. As he began his teen years, his dad sent him to a private school and forced him to learn physics and chemistry. He didn’t like it though, so when he got the invitation to a 2 year trip on a boat exploring different countries looking for exotic species, he was thrilled. Along the trip, he saw all kinds of plants and animals that he’s never seen before, and he took samples to send back to England. He took a lot of notes on the species he found, which will later be very useful. The trip ended up lasting 5 years instead of 2, but Charles didn’t mind, rather he was satisfied. When he got back, he immediately started his theory of evolution book On the Origin of Species. It took him quite a while to publish it because he held back on publishing the book for a long time. After he published the book, he got a lot more brave and started publishing more and more books on evolution of species. During all this time, he suffered from stomach pains and severe retching and vomiting. He died April 19 1882, but without Darwin, scientists would not have the stepping stone that they needed for adding to evolution of species. This book was a fairly good book although it got boring at times. I like how the author doesn’t describe every little bit of his life, but describes thoroughly the major parts of his life. It’s an easy and fast read, but I got a lot from this book. I have actually read more from this series, and all of these books are thorough, quick, and easy. In the book, the author goes to a third-person view and explains not just Darwin's’ discoveries, but also his personal life. The structure of the book is very nice, although some of the parts in this book were boring. I rate this book 3 ½ out of 5. This book is the account of Charles Darwin, who came up with the concept of evolution, which is the process in which all living beings change over time through natural selection that enables them to adapt to their environment and survive through reproductive success. Darwin's ideas of evolution has form the foundations of modern biology which leads to explaining why and how living beings adapt and evolve throughout lifetime. As his idea of evolution became very controversial, it also change the way people think and understand the world and themselves. His book, Origin of Species, was published in 1859 after it took twenty years to do so, due to the backlash of the theory of evolution. Even so, his ideas of evolution survived until the end of his life and it remains to be one of the most influential controversial theory in the world. Overall, very informative and factual of Charles Darwin and his life, accomplishments, and contribution to science. Zeige 4 von 4 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
