Jake is gone and she and Xavier are free to date each other as they please, as expected. Then, they go to a party where they get split up and some dude on a motorcycle comes up to Bethany and says 'Xavier fell in the water and got hurt!' or something along those lines. Beth gets on the motorcycle to go rescue Xavier, only to find, whoops! the dude on the motorcycle is Jake and he's taking her to hell.
did anyone here expect anything different? i thought the whole 'motorcycle ride to hell' thing was original, at least.
As the story continues, we find that Jake has somewhat creepy attachment to Bethany, as he does all this stuff for her to try to get her to fall in love with him. in the end, Lucifer himself says he want's to kill Beth, and Jake is telling her he's going to find a way to save her.
When Gabriel, Ivy, Xavier and Molly show up to save her, however, he is very pissed off and ends up dying. Which I totally did not expect him to die.
kudos for surprising me!
I don't know what's going to happen the third book now that our main antagonist (Jake) is dead, but I can't wait to find out! ( )

Bethany and Xavier are exulting in their newfound relationship, rejoicing that Gabriel and Ivy defeated Jake the demon by sending him back to the pit in “Halo.” Now, at a Halloween party Bethany gets involved in a seance which allow evil spirits to return to Earth and Jake comes back to trick Beth and carry her to Hell. Author's concept of Hell is pretty original.

FROM AMAZON: Bethany Church is an angel sent to Earth to keep dark forces at bay. Falling in love was never part of her mission, but the bond between Beth and her mortal boyfriend, Xavier Woods, is undeniably strong. But even Xavier’s love, and the care of her archangel siblings, Gabriel and Ivy, can’t keep Beth from being tricked into a motorcycle ride that ends up in Hell. There, the demon Jake Thorn bargains for Beth’s release back to Earth. But what he asks of her will destroy her, and quite possibly, her loved ones, as well. ( )

I still feel that the main character is unbelievable. I don't see how she can be an "angel" and still do the things she does. There is no way that teens actually talk using the language that is used. Can't believe this series was ever on the New York Times Best Seller list. It's not even close to the really good stuff out there. ( )
