Crime

This one was a slow build for me. Maeve Kerrigan is working on a case, The Burning Man, with Rob and other staff. When a woman stabs a man due to the tension around the case, they think they have their man, but realize they don't. Then, a woman, Rebecca Haworth, is killed in a similar fashion to the burning man MO. They head to Rebecca's apartment, where they find her friend, Louise, cleaning. Louise tells Maeve that Rebecca's ex, Gil, is violent.
As Maeve and team investigate the burning man case, Maeve has doubts about Rebecca's connection to the case. When Maeve gets too close to the case, and is injured, her life takes a big turn. But, this might be what she needs to solve the case. ( )

I really enjoyed this! I feel like the letter at the end was a bit much, but I would definitely read more in the series. Great characters and lots of directions for them to go in. ( )

Een seriemoordenaar houdt Londen al weken in zijn ban. Dan wordt er een moord gepleegd die veel van zijn methodes weg heeft, maar er net te veel van afwijkt. Een agente bijt zich in de zaak vast.
Wel spannend, en ook aardig door steeds hoofdstukken vanuit verschillend perspectief te lezen.

This compelling mystery might have rated higher except that some passages, notably the plot reveal at the end, was somewhat long. In addition, a big clue at the beginning was overlooked. Still, an excellent mystery. This begins a new series by Irish author Casey, who set this story in England. I'll be reading more. ( )
