This one was seriously confusing I kept getting lost on where I was at, and it didn't hold my attention like the others did. I hope Mr. Pike redeems himself with at least one more book. Because it seemed like there's going to be with the whole internet game thing and what not. But we shall see and I am curious as to what goes on with Sita and Matt, if their destinies are meant to be together or separated. Since he is Yaksha's son, and Yaksha loved Sita so much, that maybe his son and Sita will be soulmates. Hmmmm I guess we shall see if there is indeed another book. ( )

The Thirst series continually grabs me and pulls me in. I love that there is so much more depth than in most vampire novels. Sita is a very complex character and you almost never know what she's thinking. This installment was very gripping. We travel with Sita and friends as they try to take down two monstrous powers that humankind could possibly fall prey to. We struggle with Sita as she goes through some religious trials. All in all I'm left with the feeling that Sita is overall a good person. I'm anxious to see where the next book takes us in her adventures. ( )

Wow! When I started this chunky book, I wasn't expecting something this good. Really, I didn't.

I LIKED...
THE STRUCTURE. I'm not kidding and can't emphasise this enough. Every event and every action were plotted so perfectly, it read very well. Even if the book was over 400 pages long, there were no filler scenes. Everything was vital to the story. AND...AND...even though I read the previous book quite a while ago, and could hardly remember what happened, this book made it so east to transition back into this world. I noticed how the author didn't just devote a few pages to explaining the situation, but weaved it into the story so that each relevant part was addressed. AWESOME.

(SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE PREVIOUS BOOK)
THE BODY SWITCHEROO. Do you remember how the last book ended? With Sita dying? And waking up to find herself in Teri's body? That devastated me. Sita was a five thousand-year-old vampire who had the powers of many great beings. She had survived and gained so much, she was practically invincible, and then-BOOM! She just dies. Tell me that doesn't make you angry too? Anyhoo...I was so happy when Sita found a way to get back into her old body!

I DISLIKED...
THE CONFUSING ENDING. OK, maybe it wasn't that confusing, but still. For such an awesome book with a great structure like this one, I would have expected a little more from the ending. It seemed a bit rushed to me, so I had to reread the last few pages a few times to get a full understanding of it. And even now, I'm not sure if I even do.

In 1996, with The Last Vampire: Creatures of Forever, Christopher Pike concluded Sita's story. In 2010, he showed us all that Sita's story was not, in fact, over. As if that wasn't enough, he also promised another book, another extension of the series, a glimpse of something more. In 2011, he delivered on that promise...and Sita's story, it seems, is concluded once again.

Or is it? I feel now just as I felt fifteen years ago as a thirteen year old girl finishing a beloved series. Things are all wrapped up nicely. There's a pretty bow tied around this beautiful tale and it appears, truly, as if the end has been reached. But I was convinced then that it was the last of the last vampire, and I was proved wrong. I have to say at this point, though I do believe Sita's tale is fully told, that I hope against hope Mr. Pike is able to continue forward from where Thirst No. 4 ends and that I am wrong again.

Thirst No. 4 picks up exactly where Thirst No. 3 left off. There's clues enough through the book, though, that even if it's been a year since you read No. 3, you should easily be able to follow everything that's currently happening. As I said in my review of Thirst No. 3: The Eternal Dawn, I know that not everything Christopher Pike writes is a masterpiece and obviously the man's writing has some flaws. This book, though, is just fantastic. The pace is spot on - not too fast, not too slow. Like most everything of his that I've read, the story grabs you by the neck and yanks you so deep inside its complex web that you're unable to surface again until the very end when you're left sputtering and gasping, yearning for just a tiny iota more and yet ultimately feeling satisfied.

The Last Vampire series is dark yet beautiful, charged with emotion, gripping, and utterly remarkable. Sita's story is tragic, fantastic, and magical and I feel honored that Mr. Pike chose to share her life with us.
