I think that this was a great book. The author presented information about fire fighters in an engaging way by using dogs as the characters. I am very interested in animals, so the story was very engaging for me. Also, the illustrations greatly enhanced the story. The pictures supplemented the information that was presented in the text. For example, the text says that fire fighters "slide down the fire pole, one after the other, pull on heavy pants, pull on heavy boots." Here, the author tells the reader what fire fighters do, but the illustrations help to clarify by giving readers a detailed visual. The big idea of this story is that fire fighters have an important and difficult job. ( )

In this delightful book that shows children how fire fighters do their important work, a team of fire-fighting Dalmatians races from the firehouse to the scene of a fire. The brave pups arrive just in time to turn their hoses on the raging flames and save the day.

I loved this book because it can teach children about fire safety and the process firefighters go through from the moment the hear the alarm to putting out the fire. Kids love learning about police officers, firefighters, etc. The book does a great job of illustrating the steps fire fighters go through. I would read this book during fire safety month or something like that.
