Jo tässä sarjan ensimmäisessä osassa palaset ovat kohdallaan. Blainin viivankäyttö on mestarillista;

Having only finished the first in the two volume-story, I admit that my perspective of the storyline is limited, but what I have read so far I've thoroughly enjoyed. A straightforward tale of a young artist being duped into becoming a pirate while leaving behind the love of his life is gradually layered until you're left with a cliffhanger at the end with so many plot lines unfinished. Christophe Blain's angular lines may initially seem amateurish but his deftness displaying emotion and action is striking. I'm certainly looking forward to the second installment and the story's resolution. ( )

Isaac the Pirate tells the story of Isaac, a poor artist living in 18th century France with his beautiful fiancee whom he hopes to be able to afford to marry one day. Isaac is approached by a smooth-talking surgeon who tricks him into joining a pirating expedition.
The story is told in graphic novel format, which allows for interesting drawing due to Isaac's work as an artist. The story speaks of Isaac's loss of innocence, as well as his ability to at times out-smart the pirates with whom he is traveling. The book is an enjoyable read, with many excellent drawings, and some very unique themes, though it does seem to be part of a series.
