A collection of stories, that are linked detailing Bruce Wayne's essential reconasssiance missions on returning to Gotham from being trapped in time. Whilst some of the protagonists are portrayed a little like mirror images of batman, most explore the idea of the extended bat family. I think in the main it works and I enjoyed it. (

So, Batman just lived through unimaginable time jumping and near death. But does he say, 'hey friends and allies, I'm back', nope, as only Batman can do, he tests everyone from Red Robin to the 'new' (i.e. Dick and Damian) Batman and Robin, and even Oracle.

I do have to say that there is a bit of a lighter tone to the Batman character then there had been for awhile. The character had been getting more and more inflexible and dark and needed a reboot of some sort.

Most of the art was alright, although in some issues Vicki Vale looked a bit too much like Barbara Gordon. (

Bruce Wayne has finally returned from being trapped in the past, when Batman was presumed dead for a long while. Now he chooses to conceal his return from most, studying the various heroes who have stepped up to care for Gotham in his absence. Complicating the issue is Vicki Vale, who has figured out Bruce's secret and must make a decision herself as to what to do with it. Intriguing main storyline, but the multiple writers and artists are a motley crew who have produced a mixed bag here. (
