I really enjoyed this book because it used animals instead of children to express and show moods. I think it gives a certain kind of humor to the moods so that children can learn that there are many moods and how they are expressed.

This is a delightfully illustrated children's book with similes assigned to various animals, such as "Happy as a hippo." It is suitable for young children, but even older children will enjoy this simple, fun book. ( )

I love the touch of humor at the end: "A difficult mood is not here to stay...unless you're that duck. He's always this way." ( )

Read this at Powell's the other day- it was, like most Boynton board books, charming and adorable and fun. Boynton board books are so charming, in fact, that they make me think that I'd like to work somewhere I could read them to toddlers all day long. That's how good this book is. But then I woke up and put the book back on the shelf, backed away until I was a safe distance, turned on my heel and ran like hell. ( )
