Montana Hendrix's dream job working with therapy dogs is placed in jeopardy when one of her charges, an overexuberant golden retriever, runs amok in the Fool's Gold hospital and ignites the ire of the newest surgeon, Simon Bradley. Despite getting off on the wrong foot, Montana and Simon find common ground helping the young patients at the hospital. Can Dr. Wrong turn into Dr. Right?

This is the best installment in the series so far.

Montana is lovely; a woman who truly cares about helping others and giving back to the community. Likewise, Simon is an amazing hero. Scarred both physically and emotionally by a traumatic childhood tragedy, his strength of character and desire to save his patients are admirable - there is nothing quite like a tortured hero finding the perfect match. Simon and Montana have incredible chemistry and their sexual tension sizzles on the pages.

The secondary storyline involving Montana's boss, Max Thurman, and her mother, Denise, has potential and I look forward to finding out what happens with them.

Of course, the book has the added bonus of including some adorable canine characters earning it an extra half star. Hopefully, the next book (Nevada's story) will be just as engaging. ( )

I enjoyed this addition to the Fools Gold story line. The story was well written. The plot made sense and moved along with no slow spots.

I enjoyed the hero. I liked the way he was so socially inept. He was an interesting mixture of self assurance as a surgeon and his belief that he deserved or could inspire love.

The heroine was a nice girl. I did feel like the set up of having her be a person who messes up all the time was just given a nod and then dropped. She was however pretty grown up in her reactions to loving a man she knew wouldn't stay. She was willing to take the pain she knew would come later in order to experience the joy their love affair would bring.

I really enjoyed all the parts about the therapy dogs. I learned a lot about the ways they are used to help people and the dogs seemed written realistically.

I'm not a huge fan of small town stories because I think they tend to be idealized a bit too much and people seem to be nicer than would be true in real life. Living in a small town doesn't make you nice. There are just as many nasty unpleasant people in small towns as anywhere else. And here, as is usual in these sorts of books, the people were all just too too nice.

I received this book free from netGalley for review. ( )

Montana Hendrix has finally found the career she's been looking for. She trains therapy dogs for Max Thurman and takes them to nursing homes, hospitals, and even to the library. One not-very-well trained lab golden retriever named Fluffy gets away from her and finds its way to the burn unit where they literally run into Dr. Simon Bradley.

Simon is a famous plastic surgeon known for his treatment of burn victims. He himself was burned as a child and spent years in the hospital. His mother pushed him into a fireplace leaving him alone and distrusting of love and family.

Montana has been drafted by Mayor Marsha to try to convince Simon to stay in Fool's Gold which isn't a hardship because she falls in love with him. Simon is emotionally guarded and also knows that he plans to move on in three months. But Fool's Gold, Montana, a therapy poodle named Cece, and a young burn victim named Kalinda help to change his mind and open himself up to love and staying.

This one has great characters. I love the way the town rallies around its citizens and I love the close relationship among the Hendrix family. The story also has great dialog. I also like the second looks at some of the other romances from earlier books and previews of romances to come in later books. The Hendrix family matriarch Denise is finally getting back into dating after being widowed for ten years and her encounters are funny. ( )

"3.5 out of 5 stars, this is a sweet novel. I really enjoyed reading about Montana and her dogs, Simon with his fragile heart that makes him want to be perfect, and learning new things about Montana's family. Montana and Simon..."

I keep going back to Susan Mallery's romances because they are fun, entertaining and don't require much from me. The characters and plot twists are not as annoying as some romances and I usually want to find out how they are going to get tho the happy ending not just wishing the book was over. ( )
