I like this book for many reasons. First, through the writing, it is easy to distinguish how the little girl, Elizabeth, is feeling about being adopted. The reader can really track her emotional journey through the writing. I also liked the writing, which was detailed, but easily read and easy to understand. Lastly, I enjoyed the illustrations in the book. The illustrations helped to make emotions clear and show the difference between Elizabeth and her adoptive mother. This book is about a young girl named Elizabeth dealing with the thought process behind adoption. Elizabeth knows that her and her mommy look different but she never thinks about what that really means. She knows that she has been adopted and knows that she is from China, but she has grown to think that all babies are from China. When Elizabeth's mother tells her otherwise, she has a hard time dealing with this. She does not understand why her mommy from China would not want her, although that was not the case at all. Her mommy in China already had a baby and could not keep Elizabeth. Through this book, both Elizabeth and her mommy have to go through the process of understanding and accepting. I think that we are really able to see Elizabeth change through this book. She understands now what adoption is really about and how they went about adopting her. I think that Elizabeth really understands and accepts that she has two mommies and that they both love her in different ways by the end of this book. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
