On one hand, this book had much better pacing but on the other hand, the overall plot made basically no progress whatsoever.
I already started to have trouble believing how the MC got pulled into yet another mess right after the first one that left her mentally scarred and even somewhat traumatized.
In the first one, I could believe she would involve herself because she had very good reasons to believe her own daughter was in mortal danger.
In this one, I just kept asking, but why tho. Why would you pursue this so doggedly? It's obvious, of course, because the book wouldn't be interesting otherwise. But that just wasn't enough for me.
People rightfully already started to point out how unlikely it is that she is yet again involved in something that big for no apparent reason. Is she Ta'veren or something?
I am torn about reading the next book because the end already teases yet another mystery of a similar magnitude. AGAIN! If the pace of people dying stays the same there will be no one left in that small town in no time.
I don't know why this particular point annoys me so much in this series but it does. Much more so than in most other series I've read.

I still have the same issues with the MC I had with the first one. She as a character is very believable and believably flawed. But she is just not interesting. Like, not at all. She isn't smart, she isn't crafty, she isn't badass or strong. She has no supernatural ability or is in any way special. I guess you could say she is daring and brave to some degree but the overlap with stupidity is way too big to describe it as something positive.
The only thing that somewhat kept my interest was the drawn-out romance. Sadly this was also almost entirely limited to constant lusting after doc.
And the sexy times already started to get rather repetitive as well.

I might try the third one but I am uncertain if I will even finish it. ( )

Ms. Charles achieved the almost impossible feat of releasing a second-in-the series, which outshines the first.

Wonderful writing, excellent story building, terrific characters, snappy dialogue and just enough romance to keep readers enthralled from page one to the last. Ghost stories, recent murder-suicide, and Violets unending quest to build a new, stable life for her kids. This novel has everything a mystery-reader loves.

This book starts off shortly after book 1 and Violet quickly gets a slew of new buyers looking for homes and one beautiful, haunted murder scene home to sell. With ghosts, stalking and a box of teeth this is a fun, fast-paced read.

We get the characters we started to love in book 1 – Mysterious Doc, Aging Lothario Old Man Harvey, Jerk realtor Ray , and of course Violet and her mischievous twins. We even get a glimpse of Violet Aunt’s steamy past with a Sam Elliot look-alike-fire chief.

Recommend?
If you like your mystery with a dash of heat and a heaping helping of snark and sarcasm, this book is for you.

Not QUITE as good as the first, but certainly good enough to keep going with the series! ( )

I loved the first book in the series and devoured it in one day. This was the second book in the series. I enjoyed reading this one too, but it wasn't quite as good as the first one.

I still liked all the characters, and the developing relationship between Violet and Doc. I still hate her slimy real estate coworker and don't understand how he can be so hateful.

This book takes up right after the end of the first one. This story takes place in a small town. Who knew there were so many murders in such a tiny town. That part seems a little unrealistic to me. I did like the supernatural elements and hope that they continue in the next one.

Overall, I enjoy these books, and am looking forward to the next book in the installment. ( )

While I received an ARC of this book, I have made an independent decision to post this review. I did not have an opportunity to read the first book in this series before reading this one, but that didn't keep me from enjoying this story of a real estate agent who is trying to sell a property that is haunted. It is an interesting story, but know that there are some explicit sex scenes included. ( )
