Ten years ago an F5 tornado wiped out their hometown of Sweetness, GA and now the Armstrong brothers have decided it's time to rebuild and get back their town. They have the men there to do the work but something is missing....what could that be....oh yes, women to keep the men happy.

Now comes the genius idea of putting an ad in the newspaper looking for women to help settle and rebuild the new Sweetness. At first I didn't know if I liked this whole scheme for meeting women as it sounded close to a bunch of horny guys advertising for mail order brides. I was wrong.

This first book in the series tells us of Porter Armstrong (whom we met in the prequel with his Army buddy who were on leave when the tornado hit) and Dr. Nikki Salinger. Dr. Nikki made a last minute decision to go with the 100 or so women who packed up and headed south from Michigan. Yes, they need medical personnel but Dr. Nikki is running away from a broken engagement (he cheated and left her for a stripper....really, he's a lawyer and he leaves her for a stripper?). So off to a new place, a fresh start, some place to nurse her broken heart and put back together her shattered dreams and wounded pride. But things don't go easy in Sweetness...these are country men not too keen on being doctored up by some city gal.

Porter and his brothers know if the good doctor doesn't stay neither will any of the women. What to do, what to do. Okay how about we get her to take care of Porter since he fell from the ladder of the water tower because he got so excited to see the women driving towards town. Then to keep her there when she tries to sneak out...let's disconnect her fuel line and then tell her we have to find out what's wrong with it and "fix" it. Oh and then we will charm her and for a brief period pay some of them men to go see Dr. Nikki for treatment so she will she just how much she is needed there.

Once these two finally get around to noticing one another and not fighting the attraction all sorts of things start to happen most notably....Darren the dastardly evil lying cheating ex, is now calling non-stop. Surprise, it's over between him and the hoochie. He made a mistake, got cold feet about settling down but now he's realized he loves her and wants to be with her. Can she forgive him and work on getting back to where they were? (In my head I heard a not just NO but a OH HELL NO)
And when one of the men let slip everything Porter has done to keep her there and why (the other brothers agreed to deed him the family homestead if he could get Dr. Nikki to sign a two-year contract) she flies off the handle, climbs into the car with Darren and off she goes....or does she? It was so cheesy, Porter's grand last ditch effort to win Dr. Nikki but hey, its a small town in the middle of the mountains where not even cell service is reliable.... let just say there's a country song out there about the water tower spray paint incident except for this time its red paint not "John Deere green".

There are some redeeming moments. Funny banter among the brothers. Touching scene with mother. And when the women give our plain Dr. Nikki a make-over, well you pretty much know what to expect from that. All in all a cute book. Just wish these people, whom are educated and worldly would learn how to talk to one another and listen. Then again the book wouldn't have been half as long if they did that....double edged sword I guess.

This was a cute story with a very silly concept, and I enjoyed it immensely. The audio narration was very well done. ( )

4.5 stars. Baby, Drive South is an entertaining novel that is fast paced and laced with humor. To read my review in its entirety, please visit http://bookreviewsandmorebykathy.com/?p=445 ( )

It was cheesy, somewhat predictable, filled with unbelievable lines, a romance. I am not a follower of the romance gene. Even so I enjoyed this silly southern small town tale. I liked the characters, the town and the image projected. I might even get the second book in the series. It was a perfect 'read' in audio to exercise too.
There are three southern men/brothers trying to rebuild their town after a F5 tornado takes it all away. They have hired help, men, and only one older women. The men are getting bored and restless. So the brothers put and article in the paper calling for 100 women to come down and start a new life. What they get is not as easy as these men thought. These women are not the southern women they are used too. ( )

The Southern Roads trilogy. Now, after the tornado, the Armstrong brothers want to rebuild their town. Porter, the youngest, meets new doc Nikki, after he falls off the water tower spotting the women's caravan from Michigan. He doesn't think Nikki is his type, but gradually he changes his mind ( )
