Goodnight Canada is a "board book" which means it's part of Canada's curriculum to read. This book talks about soothing rituals that Canadian children use to get ready for bed. This book also includes pieces of information on Canada's natural and cultural wonders. It includes pictures of featured attractions as well as the four seasons in Canada. This is a great international book about Canada. I think it is important to inform kids about other parts of the world and not just their own small little world. This specific book has great pictures and talks about several good night rituals that some kids do in Canada. To implement this into my classroom I would have my students draw me a picture of what they think Canada looks like. This would help them to be a little more diverse about our world. It's a very sweet story with great illustrations. There is a variety of events and places around Canada that were chosen, one of which (Stanley Park) I'm now fortunate enough to live within visiting distance of.
The fact that it's told over the course of all four seasons is nice as well. ( )
