American genaeologist goes to England to try to find a client?s family who returned there from the USA in 1803. In the process he discovers that the family did not survive and the name was taken by an imposter and held onto thru present day. The name was taken by two brothers who wanted to take over a titled name. The proof of their being the wrongful heirs lay in a special box that had been passed down through their generations. The story kept one interested. Really enjoyed this and by the end I could not put it down; I just had to know how things were going to turn out. Generally it is very well written, with an excellent plot. The only jarring notes are towards the beginning when author inserts some family history techniques in a slightly clumsy way-but I shall certainly be picking up the rest of the series. One reviewer mentioned that Steve Robinson reminded them of Robert Goddard at his best (the early novels) and I absolutely agree. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

Driven by the irony of being a genealogist who doesn't know who his own parents are, JeffersonTayte soon finds that this new assignment shares a stark similarity to his own struggle. Someone has gone to great lengths to erase an entire family bloodline from recorded history and he's not going home until he's found out why. After all, if he's not good enough to find this family, how can he ever expect to be good enough to someday find his own? Set in Cornwall, England, past and present, Tayte's research centres around the tragic life of a young Cornish girl, a writing box, and the discovery of a dark family secret that he believes will lead him to the family he is looking for. Trouble is, someone else is looking for the same answers and they will stop at nothing to find them. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
