WELCOME TO THE REALMS OF MAGIC AND MAYHEM!
Terra Magica, fabulous land next door to our own, where trolls and monsters, wizards and warriors vie over virtuous maidens and the wealth of kingdoms. Here waits adventure beyond your wildest imaginings -- here in this sorcerous world where a misplaced wish can condemn a doughty knight to the midst of a broiling desert and spirit a beautiful Amazon to a watery domain.
So welcome one and all on the quest of the stalwart knight Mandricardo, who, in searching for his lost Amazonian love, will tame a flying carpet, rescue a forlorn princess, and take on the challenge of any hero's lifetime -- a fiery, feisty Salamandre bent on burning its way through all of Terra Magica!.
The third in Lin Carter's Terra Magica continues in much the same style as the second, this time focusing on Mandicardo the Tartar knight and his beloved, Callipygia of Amazonia.
This one doesn't work quite as well though with some of Carter's trademark deus-ex-machina resolutions being used to tidy up the plotlines.
Again the back of the book has notes outlining Carter's mythic and fictional sources. As with the second book, another of Carter's unpublished children's fantasies - Quite A Carpet! - is mentioned. ( )
