Lucas is picked on by the neighborhood bully, and in turn terrorizes the ant colony. The ants create a potion that shrinks Lucas to the size of an ant. They put him on trial, and find him guilty of crimes against the colony -- his sentence? To live and work as an ant! Lucas learns about teamwork and the importance of friendship--and in the end, he saves the colony and is returned to his normal size. “The Ant Bully” written by John Nickle is a great story, with a message about bullying. The story introduces a young boy, Lucas, who is always bullied by Sid; Lucas is tired of being bullied, so he starts bullying the ants in his yard. The ants did not like Lucas, so the Queen ant started making Lucas work off his debt and shrunk him to the size of an ant. After Lucas completed his chores, the Queen returned him to his human size, and to Lucas’ delight, shrunk Sid. This is a great story and is appropriate for all ages because of the message about bullying. This books is about a boy named Lucas who gets bullied by a boy named Sid, so Lucas bullies ants to make himself feel better. He sprays the ant colonies in his yard with a hose and the ants decide they have to stop him. So, the ant queen shirks Lucas and has a talk with him about why he is being mean to her colony. He becomes friends with the ants and eventually the queen ant returns him to his normal size. Then Sid comes and tries to bully Lucas again but the ants shrink him. www.johnnickle.net keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

Opinion: This book wasn’t super exciting. It’s got a great moral, so maybe if it was read the right way it would be entertaining. I loved the 50’s lettering and illustrations. ( )
