Ever since Verity was murdered and Mo survived Constance has hated her, now it appears she has magic powers and so needs Mo’s help. As Verity’s little sister it makes sense she would be magic, but since neither of their parents have powers, as a matter of fact they are both completely clueless, it is kind of head scratching but necessary for the plot.

In getting her revenge Mo thought she had fixed things, but in the world of magic things are going terribly awry. Luc is back to ask for her help and there are some in the magic community who insist that she has to fix the problem SHE caused. It seems to me she didn’t cause the problem, it was their problem to begin with, but Mo feels obligated to Constance. Constance just wants to hurt Mo. Colin wants Mo to just forget about the magic.

This book is more of what was in Torn but the story is progressing nicely, characters are staying in character and there are surprises popping up when you least expect it. Another enjoyable quick read. ( )

All Mo wants to do is get away from the magic and the mob but they just keep pulling her back in. Tangled picks up about a month after where Torn, the first book in the series, ended. Torn was all about avenging the death of Verity, Mo’s best friend, but Mo had to make sacrifices to get justice. Having done what she needed to do, Mo just wants her normal, invisible life back but no one will let her have it ever again.

The series is partially set in Chicago where Mo’s uncle is connected to the mob and partially set in New Orleans where a secret society of Arcs, people who can pull on the magic in the Earth’s elements, are headquartered. In many ways, the Arcs are no different than the mob: they are ruthless and will sacrifice anyone to get what they want.

Unfortunately, Mo is caught between both groups as well as some other characters, all of whom have their own agendas and almost none of them care about Mo’s well being. Mo realizes that she will never have normal again and that her dream of moving away from all of it may not be possible.

The love triangle from Torn continues in Tangled with Mo being pursued by magical Luc with his sexy Louisiana drawl and being drawn to Colin, her bodyguard with his mob ties and secrets. Both boys have their pros and cons and Mo does spend most of the book undecided about which one she is going to be with. One of the things I like about the book is that Mo’s character does grow throughout the story and she emerges a lot surer of herself than when she started. This confidence also extends to her decisions about the love triangle and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, Bound, to see how she deals with the mob, the magic and the men.

Tangled is exciting, fast paced and the combination of magic and the mob is very cool. If you have not started this series yet, you really should. The series stand out from other books in the YA paranormal market and is definitely worth reading. Bound will be released in October 2012 and I'm looking forward to it.

Another fantastic series that picks up with a start. Poor Mo. She is being passed around, lied too, manipulated, by all the people who are supposedly "looking out for her." I don't think I have shook my head so much as I read this book. But YAY, for a strong heroine.

The plot of this book is filled with many twist and turn. Mo is dealing with the after affects of what happen in the first book as well as dealing with more family problems. I really like that in this book, the reader gets to see more of Mo's life. We learn more of her family and her past.

The love interest in this book gets a bit more complicated. With those guys fighting for her ruthlessly, I loved how well she can see. She saw past both of their past and dealt with what she knew. I like that she was frighten but strengthen them. Even with the hard times that she deals with her own personal life, she never lets it get her down. She did what she needed to do for others and put everything aside for them.

My only grudge about this book is the poor misuse of Mo. She got tossed around like a rag doll. Like strong women, her trials made her stronger. I admired her will and ability to keep going no matter what.

Overall, this is good book. The plot is filled with drama, boy drama, family drama and much more skeletons coming out of the closet. I look forward to seeing how this book is going to end. ( )
