77 Says in September was a very interesting book from the very start as it is something that could happen whether it be in America or any other continent, the effects would be devastating for the continent and the people. The book didn’t drag on for pages on end before anything happened it started straight away.

It was very inspiring with Kyle walking 2,000 miles home to his beloved family, and tried to survive the distance, the hostility of people who would do anything to stay alive and on the brink of death several times. I was cheering Kyle on throughout his trek through the states to get back to his family where he hoped they would still be alive and not starved to death.

I really enjoyed the book, it was very well written and was gripping.

I was telling my husband everything that was happening and he said it sounded like a great read for the fact that an EMP is not fantasy. People should be aware of what effects it could have to the human race.

A Brilliant book, a pleasure to read and would recommend it to everyone. ( )

Written by an old white guy. Female characters are described at length (if they are pretty) male characters are not described. Wife tells man pursuing her she is not interested several times, when he will not take no for an answer she does not threaten him with the gun she has, she thinks she should cut her hair off so she won't be so damn pretty. Meanwhile her husband is drooling over a woman an even states it would be forgivable and understandable for him to have sex after two months away from his wife and three kids. Written by and old white guy. ( )

A cross=country, "gotta get back to my family", post-apocalyptic tale that was kind of flat throughout, but ended strongly.

Kyle Tait is in Houston, Texas about to fly home to Montana when a terrorist EMP strike knocks about power to North America. Determined to get home to his wife and three children, Kyle sets off on foot on a trek that would take him a Ross multiple states. Along the way, he encounters those who help him, those who seek to do him harm, as well as those who need some help.

The audiobook narrator was good but wasn't good at capturing the emotion of the moment. I thin this had a lot to do with the book being a little flat for me. Perhaps the experience would've been different had I read it and not listened.

Kyle's encounter with Rose and the ending were the hgh points of a book that really didn't have any climatic moments for me. There is a second book that picks up where book one ends. I may give it a try. Based on another person's review, we get another glimpse of Rose, which is surprising and enticing. ( )

77 Days in September is a reasonably solid apocalypse novel where the downfall of society is brought on by an EMP attack on the USA; the premise is good however the execution does vary in parts with some parts being captivating and others being a little predictable. The author also seems to portray his two main characters as being morally incorruptible despite the adversity surrounding them which feels a little far fetched, there's also a smattering of Christianity and associated morals through the book giving a firm indication of the writers religious beliefs.

Overall, it's a pretty good tale of a man caught half a country away from his family with no transportation struggling to get home in the aftermath of a widespread terrorist attack. ( )

A new and highly plausible twist on an attack on America. With an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) attack being launched simultaneously on two coasts by American enemies, the entire Northern Hemisphere is soon rendered powerless and incapacitated. Not your typical Armageddon where the entire world is consumed by some dire event, but the targeted and finite destruction of the American infrastructure. What ensues is a way of life to which survivors must adjust. Can our technologically dependent population learn to exist by living off the land once more? How long will it take for people who are stranded in their own homes, without transportation or electronic communication, to realize that help from the government isn't coming? How quickly does the looting and pillaging begin? Will people be safe in their own homes? Can people form small communities in their neighborhoods and learn to deal with their problems or will there be in-fighting still?

The protagonist is Kyle Tait, an electric company employee from Montana, who has been loaned to Texas to help with restoring electrical power after a hurricane there. He's been away from home for two weeks and is missing his wife and their three children. As his plane is about to take off, the EMP attack occurs. Those on board Kyle's plane are lucky because they were only feet above the runway on take off when the plane loses power and crashes back to earth. Kyle saves the man seated next to him and most onboard evacuate the plane. But they are astounded when no rescue vehicles or medical personnel are sent out from the terminal to help them. It takes almost an hour before reality sets in and they realize that help is not forthcoming.

Kyle vows to get back to his family in Montana, where his wife and children have prepared a small celebration for his return. But that will have to wait. As Kyle searches for a way to get back home, he soon accepts that he will have to walk from Texas to Montana - a distance of fifteen hundred miles - in order to reach his family. And he'll need to do it quickly as the wintry weather will most likely arrive there before he does. The remainder of the story follows Kyle's journey, at times hopeful, at times full of despair and self-doubt, as he draws on reserves of physical and mental strength he didn't know he had.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is a wake up call to Americans that this sort of thing can happen and until international assistance arrives we must learn to survive as our ancestors did. The characters themselves will have you rooting for them or hating them or mistrusting them - but you will find yourself immersed in the action and losing yourself along Kyle's long journey home. ( )

Kyle worked his way down the aisle of the airplane, squeezing past the other passengers as they struggled to jam their oversized carry-ons into already too-full overhead bins.
