Beautiful illustrations but the story didn't really do it for me. I did like that it's about boys using their imaginations though. ( )

My review of this book is that it could be really fun for students because it is interacting and relates to similar playtime that children have and their imagination while playing. Not only would it engage a child during story time but it has rhyming schemes as well and made-up words. For example, "They landed in the dark dungeon. 'I cant see a thing,' said Benjamin. 'This is a CATASTROPHE,' said Karl. Max was turning letters around, looking for a way out." This was when Max's cat was attacking the castle they built. I thought that this was a very funny way to incorporate that into the book. The main idea of this book is that Max and his brothers have a fun time playing together with little kid blocks but their imagination makes it magical. I would definitely read this book to my students! ( )

Max's Castle follows Max and his brothers as the build a castle of words. Through their adventures they find different ways they can change words by rearranging letters and finding smaller words within larger words. They have a blast as the letter blocks allow their imaginations to run wild. This book is a modern fantasy.

Very imaginative book about kings, knights, castles, and the like! Loved how the boys' imaginations florished with the plays on words using alphabet blocks to help tell the story. Cute! ( )
