The plot was interesting enough, but the characters at times I found annoying. The pivotal point of the child's health was overly discussed and distracted from the book as was mother's irritating overly (to me) emotional state. But it was a fairly enjoyable way of spending a couple of hours ( ) 4.5 stars. The Line Between Here and Gone is an intense novel with a unique storyline and memorable characters. To read my review in its entirety, please visit http://www.bookreviewsandmorebykathy.com/2012/07/16/the-line-between-here-and-go... Justin, the 3-week old son of Amanda Gleason lies in the hospital fighting to live. Only a stem cell transplant will save him and the only possible match may be his father. The problem is his father is missing and as far as the police are concerned..dead. Amanda doesn't believe it but she knows she needs help. Enter Forensic Instincts, a group of tech savvy, expert investigators that take on the task of finding Paul Everett, Justin's father who just may be alive. Every avenue they pursue they are blocked. Quickly they realize that this is much bigger than any of them imagined but time is running out for both their investigation and for baby Justin. I loved this psychological thriller with lots of twists and turns and some romance thrown in as well. You definitely get caught up in the story line and start to relate to the characters and their struggles. I love the Forensic Instincts team - great camaraderie...even the dog. Amanda Gleason’s month old baby desperately needs a bone marrow transplant. His father may be the only possible donor but he's dead. When Amanda gets news that he may actually be alive she contacts Forensic Instincts in an attempt to find Paul before it's too late for their son. The five members of the Forensic Instincts team take the case and almost immediately find out that it is much more complicated than they expected. Their investigation soon leads them to evidence of mob coverups and corrupt politicians. Why was Paul’s' death faked and does he even know he's a father? I really like the characters that make up the Forensics Instincts team. They each have specialized skills and work together well. Some of their internal conflicts and the banter is fun and fits the character's personality. I thought the mystery was well executed, fast paced and absorbing. It's the second book of the Forensic Instincts series but definitely doesn't need to be read in order. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

"Each day is a struggle for Amanda Gleason's newborn son as he battles a rare immune deficiency. Justin's best chance for a cure lies with his father, who was brutally murdered before Amanda even realized she carried his child. Or was he? One emailed photo changes everything, planting a seed of doubt that Amanda latches on to for dear life: a recent photo of a man who looks exactly like Paul. Could Justin's father be alive? The mother in her is desperate to find out. But tracking down a ghost when every second counts is not for amateurs. Forensic Instincts is the one team up for the challenge. A behaviorist. A former navy SEAL. A techno-wizard. An intuitive. A retired FBI agent. A human-scent-evidence dog. Together they achieve the impossible, pushing ethical and legal boundaries whenever the ends justify the means. The manhunt is on for the elusive father. Yet the further FI digs into his past, the more questions are raised about whether the man Amanda fell in love with ever really existed at all. Dark secrets. Carefully crafted lies. From the congressional halls of Washington, D.C., to exclusive Hamptons manors, there are ruthless people who would stop at nothing to make Forensic Instincts forget about the man Amanda desperately needs to find."--Dust jacket.
