I really enjoyed One Moment, One Morning and this is a standalone sequel to that book. In The Two Week Wait, Lou takes centre stage, with Karen and Anna being more supporting characters. Lou, after a health scare, decides she wants to have a baby, but she ends up taking an unconventional route of IVF and egg-sharing. Her eggs get shared with Cath, a woman who lost her ovaries to cancer but still wants to become a mother. The two stories never completely merge as the women cannot know each other, but their experiences are told in alternate sections.

This is a lovely light read and one which I really enjoyed. Sarah Rayner has a nice writing tone, is empathetic and encourages the reader to be the same way. It's easy to try and put yourself in the shoes of her characters and the end brought a lump to my throat. ( )
