This graphic novel tells the story of two friends who just finished off their school year. One of the girls invites her friend along on her family vacation around the United States. Both girls travel to all of the nation's coolest and most popular monuments. The illustrations of the book are creative and original because of its bright, vibrant colors and detail. The girls have many funny stories to tell and encounter some interesting situations. This book is also unique because of its text. Each page has different font, ranging from cursive, bold, italics, and text. The book also includes secret notes exchanged between the two friends, letters they have written, diary entries, postcards, and emails. Every page has detail and is fascinating to look at. The reader definitely will not get bored when reading this graphic novel. This book is great for teaching students about America's national monuments and where they are located. ( )

I've found a new favorite! This was my first experience with the Popularity Papers series and I was quite impressed. I loved the journal format with the running commentary from BFFs since birth, Julie and Lydia. I quickly fell love with Lydia, Julie and Julie's dads.Amy Ignatow does a great job of presenting serious topics: same sex marriage, adoption, divorce and absentee fathers in a way that is realistic and not overly preachy and makes them humorous. How cool is that? Awesome book, so excited to read the others! ( )
