This is the first in a series - the Jane Ryland series. The author has been an investigative news reporter for Boston TV for a number of years. She has written several books and won many more awards for these books.

Jane is a Boston television reporter but when she refuses to reveal a source in a case, she lost her job at the TV station. Now, she's working as a newspaper reporter. She receives a phone call from a Senate candidate's wife asking her to find out who her husband is having an affair with. At the same time, Detective Jake Brogan is investigating a series of bodies that are found near bridges in the city. He suspects a serial killer, but is he right? During the course of their investigations, both Jane and Jake realize that their cases might be connected. ( )

A good start to a series. Police procedural, journalism, politics...all right up my alley. ( )

A page turner. Some of the plot elements and characters don't ring particularly true when you think about them but if you suspend some belief this is a good page turner. ( )

Pretty good book. Not an edge-of-your-seat kind of thing. I do wish that these authors would not keep referring to Blackberrys. The main detective, with the BOSTON police department has a BlackBerry???? Right! Details like this annoy me and drop stars. ( )

I enjoyed this story about news journalist Jane Ryland, who used to work for television, but now works for a local Boston paper. She's assigned a story about a possible serial killer and then gets involved with a scandal involving the governor. So many things going on at once, it's hard for her to stay on top of things, and then there's hunky detective Jake Brogan. They are attracted to each other but can't reveal info to each other and have to keep their professional lives and private (what little there is) lives separate. This was a great plot with many twists and turns to keep the reader turning pages. ( )
