Erotic Literature. Fiction. Romance. LGBTQIA+ (Fiction.) HTML:

Notorious Nora Sutherlin is famous for her delicious works of erotica, each one more popular with readers than the last. But her latest manuscript is different--more serious, more personal--and she's sure it'll be her breakout book...if it ever sees the light of day.

Zachary Easton holds Nora's fate in his well-manicured hands. The demanding British editor agrees to handle the book on one condition: he wants complete control. Nora must rewrite the entire novel to his exacting standards--in six weeks--or it's no deal.

Nora's grueling writing sessions with Zach are draining...and shockingly arousing. And a dangerous former lover has her wondering which is more torturous--staying away from him...or returning to his bed?

Nora thought she knew everything about being pushed to your limits. But in a world where passion is pain, nothing is ever that simple.

I can't possibly remember how many times I have read this book, but it is at least 4 ( )

DNF at 2961 on my Kindle Fire. Hated this....just my humble opinion. I am usually more careful when I choose my books to avoid wasting my time and money. I saw so many good reviews leading me to the conclusion there are many who did enjoy this book. I think it just proves we all have our own tastes. Happy reading! ( )

Dnf @ 44% after the shower scene. Nora's about to take Zach to her club, which she affectionally calls ‘hell’ (so cute), and I have absolutely zero interest in what she's going to 'teach' him there.

I'm actually furious right now, you guys. If this book had been marketed as 'erotic fantasy,' I'd just shrug and move on without a comment, but putting this up as 'contemporary BDSM erotica/ romance'? This was 50 shades all over again. I did not expect this, and I'm so disappointed and angry right now.

First things first. People have a right to fantasize about anything they want; however strange or unpleasant they may seem to others, they're just fantasies. Dub-con, rape fantasies, hell, get off to wet smelly socks for all I care, but do not present an abusive relationship as a good example of BDSM lifestyle to your more or less ignorant readers. They will believe you!! Fucking your sub until she bleeds? Beating her so hard her roommate wants to take her to the hospital after seeing her? ‘Staking your claim' by forcing yourself on her so unexpectedly and brutally that she actually forgets her safe word?

There's nothing erotic about this 'erotica.' Nothing authentic in the ‘BDSM’ scenes. Aftercare? What’s that? Not a thing you’ll find in this book, to be sure. He just leaves her like a used rag when he's done. I can only assume Mrs Reisz is completely unfamiliar with the subject. Once again — if you fancy yourself an erotica writer, feel free to do so, but label it accordingly, please. This book is a smear on the BDSM shelf, just as 50 shades was.

This woman is a piece of work! She casually mentions an act of pedophilia forced upon a 14 yo girl, and then goes on to say that made her develop a kink for suits. What in the everloving fuck is wrong with you, lady??

Sheridan hadn’t been a virgin since age fourteen when her father’s best friend had turned her over his knee, spanked her and fucked her right on her councilman father’s big oak desk. She’d developed an appetite for extreme sex, intense BDSM, and couldn’t orgasm unless submitting to a Dominant. Her father’s best friend had kept on his Armani business suit while deflowering Sheridan and now Sheridan had a delicious little fetish for men’s clothing.

I thought I was going to puke all over my Kindle!!

Nora… don’t even get me started on our precious 'dominatrix' h, and her philosophy of sacrifices and suffering in the name of love. When you have absolutely no masochistic tendencies, being in a relationship with a very enthusiastic sadist and passively accepting his unique brand of tough love is stupid, if not suicidal. It makes her — and she would love this word — a martyr (for love!!). Not what I wanted to read about, and I'm saying that as a person who appreciates every single part of the BDSM acronym. Safe, sane and consensual? Don't make me laugh. This was unsafe, insane, and that shower scene definitely crossed the line into non-con.

“No toys, no chains—how are you going to dominate me now?”
It happened so fast that she didn’t even have time to gasp. She was pinned with her stomach flat against the shower wall. At first she wasn’t scared.
“Like this,” he whispered in her ear. “This is how.” And he pushed into the one part of her body he hadn’t yet penetrated. The pain was beyond anything he’d ever inflicted on her. She screamed in the back of her throat, screamed broken formless words, words ripped in half as she was. She knew there was a way to stop it, but in her panic and her agony, the way was forgotten.

FYI, putting a collar on someone and fucking them bloody doesn't make them your sub. What went wrong, Mrs Reisz? Too much imagination, too little actual information? Too little imagination, too much WRONG information?? Whatever it was, the effect was painful in the most unpleasant way. When someone submits to you on that level, they not only give you control over their pain and pleasure, they put their body, their mind, their comfort and safety, their life into your hands — however temporarily. Forget 'love,' that is the highest form of trust, and you owe them respect for that, you owe them your care. Subs are not objects existing purely for Doms’ enjoyment, to be fucked, beaten, and put away when you're done. [Just a quick note for you, Mrs Reisz: orgasms do not constitute aftercare, did you know that? They are an optional part of a scene.] When the scene ends, that's when a Dom shows their true colors; wiping your spunk, blood and other fun stuff off of the sub is not enough, you'll be surprised to know. Hit me up if you need anything else explained, Mrs ‘Kinky Erotica Writer.’

I'm just a little curious, in an abstract way not really requiring an answer - does our H ever treat the h gently? Does he touch her with anything other that brutal or proprietary hands, whips and other props of his trade? Does he monitor her mental state during and after a scene, knowing that submitting to that degree doesn't come easy for her? I’m not curious enough to keep reading, however. After that shower scene, I'm sure I do not want to read about Mr Sadist having sex with a male sub, ever *cringe* so I'm going to bow out now, more or less gracefully.

Oh, I almost forgot! On a completely unrelated note, I just had to highlight this quote:

If you don’t know how to use punctuation then do away with it altogether.

which I found hysterical — in my estimation, the author herself omitted more than a hundred commas, and I’m only talking about the part I’ve read.

No rating, because I did no finish the book (and also because my friends here would probably kill me afterwards).

I tried to find something good in this, but I was bored out of my mind. I can't be bothered to finish it. ( )

This book is many things. It is brutal and heart-wrenching, beautiful and jarring, surprising and full of wit. One thing it isn't: put-downable.

I started reading The Siren with the intent of reading a couple of chapters and calling it a night. But two chapters quickly became half the book, and I continued reading with the expectation of finding a "stopping point." And I did--at the end of the book.

What Tiffany has done, and what I think is the most amazing thing about this book, is this: she's written a seriously hot book with a soul. The Siren is two parts philosophy, one part religious treatise (for both BDSM and the Catholicism that is so present throughout the book), one part love story, and one part kink. Nora's Catholicism is incredibly important to her, both for her faith and for her relationship with priest Soren, arguably one of the most complex characters I have ever read (and yet somehow Soren is so realistic he might be listening to your next confession). He's both a major character and a philosophy all his own that is the undercurrent of the entire story and affects each character's relationship web.

Nora is an amazing character all her own. Confident and conflicted, playful and sensitive, beautiful Domme Nora is leading two lives that she prefers to keep separate. For most people, work is work and play is play, but for Nora, play is work and work is play. When her new editor, high-strung Zachary Easton, finally makes her acquaintance, the stuffy Brit isn't prepared for Nora's straightforwardness, eagerness (for both work and extra-curriculars), or thirst for life. Their relationship blooms into an almost-torrid affair of sorts and culminates in an incredibly delicious, emotional, and evocative scene. Nora sometimes plays the role of psychologist, using her particular skill set and her intuition to give her clients what they need more than what they want. There's a scene that sticks with me--the Michael scene--because it showcases just how good Nora is at her job and at reading people. It was one of the most moving scenes in the book for me (subject matter notwithstanding), and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Also, Chapter 10. Nora and Zach meet in a Catholic church, and they have one of the most mind-blowing exchanges I've ever read outside St. Thomas Aquinas and Plato. It's powerful, moving, and stirring, and I found myself contemplating that scene throughout the rest of the book.

I could ramble all damn day about what I love and feel about this book. The depth, the dichotomies, the beautiful prose, the plot, all are incredible. Sadly, this rambling "review" has barely touched the book itself. I have difficulty putting into words (bad for a writer) the spell The Siren cast on me.

Obviously, this book isn't for the faint of heart. If erotica and/or BDSM isn't your thing...shit. Get out of your comfort zone and read it anyway ;) ( )
