Lincoln Borglum was 12 years old when his father was commissioned to design a monument out of Mount Rushmore, a project that Lincoln, as an adult, would lead to completion. Large-scale illustrations emphasize the massive size of the endeavor. Afterword, Bibliography. "Hanging off Jefferson's Nose" is an informational book that tells the story of how Mount Rushmore was made. The book primarily centered around the sculptor who designed the monument, Gutzon Borglum, and his son who finished it after his death, Lincoln Borglum. The story itself wasn't extremely interesting, but it was interesting getting a backstory to something we only see as a monument. I feel like Mount Rushmore is something students hear about but the history and individuals behind it are largely unknown. It was a good informational book because it gave factual information about real events, but it also goes beyond the surface level information that everyone would know. I would use this book when teaching on American History or about national parks/monuments Zeige 3 von 3 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

Lincoln Borglum was the son of Gutzon Borglum, the man who dreamed up the idea of carving four presidents' faces into the rockface of Mount Rushmore. The younger Borglum was the man who actually completed the project, and this is his story. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
