I wasn’t too sure what this book was about before I started reading it. It was on my TBR, so I knew it must have been something I was interested in. I was a tad too lazy to check it out on Amazon, so I just dived in, which was rather fun because I had a bit of treat.

Kasey Phillips is a professional photographer, happy with her husband and three-year-old son. Devastatingly, her husband is killed in a road accident. Quite enough to have to deal with, but to add to the tragedy, their son, Jake, who was in the car at the time seems to have disappeared without trace. A mother’s instinct tells Kasey her son is alive. But as time passes with little to go on, she struggles to keep her hopes alive. Friends and family rally round; so, too, does a rather good-looking policeman.

So, what I thought was going to be a thriller/suspense was actually disguised as a romance. Or is it the other way round? I don’t know. If I’m honest, the thriller/suspense part was just a little too pat and contrived and all too convenient, but I found it didn’t really matter. It was a decent read, with some lively and likeable characters; it's a well-edited book (I so rarely get to say that) and one I couldn’t wait to pick up and finish. This was my first outing with this author and definitely not my last. ( )

Out of Focus by Nancy Naigle
Won this is a contest that I had entered because it's about photography and I know I will enjoy it.
Starts out with Kasey and she's the photographer for the band-she's driven to be on location with them at his agent's house where she can get great angles on her subject, Colby, a rising musical star.
What is fun about this book so far is how she gets along with them, the playful bantering and they accept her as one of them. She has a husband and 3 year old at home and makes calls to them, no matter what, at certain times of the day.
She arrives home from a shoot and she's going to surprise them with dinner as they are not home yet. Next thing we hear is the policeman and he's telling her her husband died in a crash and there is no little boy at all, anywhere.
She and her best friends look for clues as to where her son could be along with help from business associates. So many clues from the pictures she received from the courier.
Cody and the tour also are able to help out in their own way by showing pictures of Jake and talking about his disappearance.
Like how she finds out about the gift the guys had left her and what it is.
Devastating at times but happy at other times, what a ride...recipes included at the end. ( )

Excellent story! Filled with emotions from heartbreaking to heartwarming. The losses Kasey Phillips has to face are unimaginable. Her strength, character, and belief are the only things that get her through. I definitely recommend this one! ( )

Nancy Naigle’s second suspense-filled Adam Groves romance/mystery is a “couldn’t wait to find out what happens” Virginia thriller. It starts with photographer Kasey, a wife, mom, on a photo shoot with one of Countries biggest and hottest male singers. There’s a lot of sizzle and flirting going on between them, but Kasey loves her husband and little boy too much for anything more. She can’t wait to get home, only before she gets there, something terrible happens to her husband and son. She soon finds out there are no easy answers to help her navigate this tragedy, and she is running out of patience.

Guaranteed to keep you guessing and you will love the people in these small southern towns. Of course it can’t be a great story without dogs and yummy recipes, so enjoy… You don’t need to read book one, but you just might want to after you read Out of Focus. 5 stars. ( )
