Ryan is an underachiever of sorts who learns to find his direction through a friendship with Josh, a new kid in the neighborhood and standout jock. Nice to see Ryan’s values and strengths unfold as he finds his principles clashing with Josh’s. I have been reading sports fiction novels for a while. This book was just another one of those. There was nothing over-the-top about this one that stands out from all of the other ones I have read. If you enjoy the game of baseball you will like this book. I can relate to it in the way that the main character, Ryan Ward knew about a crime, but didn't want to tell on his closest friend. He knew what his friend Josh had done was wrong and a crime, but the fate of their championship baseball season was on the line. If he was to snitch on Josh, they would have no chance of winning a state championship. In the end justice was served, but not in the way many would expect, and even though Josh committed a crime, he prospers in the end. I’m the first to review this book because this is not a good book. It shows that yeah one day you can do what you dreamed to do and yet it shows selfishness. It’s boring to read and has no interesting point in it. This book could use a lot more suspense and a better setting. If you like reading about sports and how sports can change people, you should read this book.
