I believe this style of writing is similar to Christopher Paolini and T.A. Barron. Fast Paced and well written, I read two books in this series and know this is a definite adventure book for boys. Girls will enjoy them as well, but the genre is fitting for reluctant boy readers. Zeige 2 von 2 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
No longer plagued by the wild beasts and tyrants faced during his Bartlett Trial, 15-year-old Gladius looks forward to returning with his new friend, Ellie, to her family home. Good food, great stories and a much needed rest await them - at least that is what they believe until they discover their homes burned to the ground and their families missing.Something, or someone, is not only collecting bodies all over the countryside, but also snatching their souls. A mysterious clue on an old map spurs the two of them, plus Ellie's childhood friend, Henry, a deaf mute, to travel cross country to the Sea of Lost Souls. Relationships deepen and obstacles abound as they pass over the snowy Porcupine Pass, through the walled City of Thieves and across the hot sands of the Drylands during the hunt for their loved ones. Although the synopsis is short, don’t let that discourage you. There is a lot of action, adventure, and mysterious creatures that the kids run into. I started reading and had a hard time putting it down just so I could get a couple hours of sleep. I just couldn’t wait to see what the kids ran across next.
This would be a great book for mid grade readers or anyone that likes the Percy Jackson series.
I received this book for free from the Library Thing Early Reviewer Program (a while ago) in exchange for an honest review. ( )
