A fox is tired of eating toads the same old way all the time, so he consults a recipe book and learns that he needs young, tender toads instead of big fat ones. He catches a sackful but their Mamma leaps in the window to save them, and diverts the fox with a "family recipe" called Toad-in-a-Hole. "No toads?" asked Fox doubtfully. "Try it without," says Mamma. And it's delicious! Recipe included in the back of the book.

Overheard a mom reading this to her kid in the library several months ago, at which point it was too long for my kiddo - but now it's perfect! She still won't eat egg-in-a-bread, though.
