Was offered an ebook version of this book because I'd signed up for a giveaway and didn't win. I enjoyed the mystery aspect of this book. I also enjoyed the thrilling suspense towards the end. However, there was a lot of soap opera type drama that I do not enjoy and would have preferred to have it left out. I did like that I got to put my high school French classes to some use. There's a lot of French scattered throughout the book. When you think of Provence you think of beautiful scenery and a peaceful setting not a serial killer who rapes and murders beautiful women. Going against her husbands wishes ex-pat, Maggie Newberry doesn't think the police an find the killer of these women so she decides to help, especially when the killers second victim is her newest best friend. Will she discover who the killer is before the police or will she become one of the killers victims. Find out by reading Murder In Provence by Susan Kieman-Lewis. Not only will you get a good mystery but you will also get a little piece of the France. Zeige 3 von 3 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

The third installment in the Maggie Newberry mysteries, this book takes the reader further into the sleepy little French town of St-Buvard, where Maggie and Laurent discover not one but four murders to spice up their tenure in Provence. The wine, the food, the scenery and that sexy Frenchman, Laurent, make the journey a very palatable one indeed! Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |

I enjoyed Murder in Provence. I thought I had it figured out early in the book but I was so wrong. The murders are not pretty but the mystery is well done. There is just enough information given that I tried to solve the murders but not enough information was given that I could get the right person until the end when it is explained.
I like Maggie and Laurent. They are still working their way through the early days of marriage. Neither is given to talking about it but Maggie is thinking and coming up with the wrong answers. The secondary characters are good. Marie and Rene and their family give the story the French touch. The police come across as incompetent. I loved how Maggie compared them to American crime shows on TV.
At times there is a bit of a disconnect between a character and what I thought he would do in the case of Laurent's friend, Jean Luc, when he is out hunting. That scene and his subsequent scene seemed unfinished. Other than that I enjoyed this book and will get the first two so I know how Maggie and Laurent start. ( )
