1. Summary- This book is about a happy cat named Green Eyes who was born in the country and lives in a box. Green Eyes lives near a farm and visits the farmer daily. The farmer feeds her and by the end of the book adopts her as his own cat.

2. Personal Reaction- I liked this book because i love cats and it would be cool to know what a cat thinks and what a cat does all day. Kids would love this book because they would be hearing this cats thoughts. Also, the would like the fun illustrations.

3. Classroom Extension ideas- 1. In the classroom, I could use this book when teaching about the country and farm animals.
2. I could use this book when talking about what outdoor animals do when the seasons change, when it gets too hot or too cold.

This is a great book to read to a whole group or have beginning readers read individually. It has some great pictures that are colorful and appealing to little children. It is also a great way to talk about the different seasons with children. ( )

Green Eyes by Abe Birnbaum

Summary:
This Caldecott Honor-winning picture book is about an all-white cat named Green eyes. As green eyes is about to celebrate his first birthday, he reminisces on his first year of life. He tells a story about how it began under the big blue sky while he lived in a red box with a soft, pink blanket. He recalls climbing out of the box for the first time and takes his reader on a journey through the different seasons as he experienced life on a farm.

Personal Reaction:
I enjoyed the story and the beautiful illustrations. I believe this book would be useful in teaching young children about the different seasons and how to use their imaginations and verbal skills to describe the world around them.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. In the classroom, I would clear an area and ask the children to imagine they are cats in a big red box. As they pretend to climb out of the box, I would encourage them to describe what they see.
2. In the classroom, I would give the children a piece of paper with lines that divide it into four sections. I would ask the children to draw a picture of themselves doing something during each season.

Summary:
This story is about an all-white cat named Green Eyes, who tells us about her experience growing up on a farm through all the seasons.

Personal Reaction:
I thought this book was very cute. I think with young children, any mention of animals is a winner! Additionally, it is a good book to help introduce the seasons.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. We could take a field trip to visit a farm.
2. We could paint pictures of our pets or pets we wished we had in our favorite season. ( )

Personal Reaction
This book really caught my eye because of how bright all of the illustrations are. This book reminds me of my childhood growing up in the country with all different farm animals.

Classroom Extension
1. In my classroom, I could use this book to teach my students about the four seasons.
2. In my classroom, I could use this book to teach my students about the different kinds of farm animals.
